Hey everybody :)
Below the very first screenshot of the "disco" group video collab, for the sake of letting you know there is work in progress :)

Rumors have it the boys are likely to be joined by aleonz, and there's a bit of stage space left for a horn section, too.
We'll probably "leak" the template sometime soon so you can listen in and check that out.

I've also had the pleasure to listen in on the Rockers around Drumshtics, and their tune is also coming along, while the procrastinating Baer claims to be waiting for the arrival of the new headphone preamp, which should arrive shortly.

Whoever feels like starting a group and feels capable of providing a template track (doesn't have to be drums, but needs to provide the groove & structure) is very welcome :)

So many possibilities, here, there and everywhere!... I think it'd be cool to team up with another female singer :) Rip it up on something funky cool!

Another thought along this line 5 or so vocalists doing a short harmony- wiki loop message :D

Hi everybody,

Sweet Moonchild asked me to join for a jam with her and... I couldn't resist ! ;)

So I guess I have to register somewhere ? she told me about a private band tool...

No hurry anyway, looks like we're waiting for the rhythm section to build the foundations of our sand castle, we're having an ice cream at the bar while waiting, maybe a mojito too ?

:)

Aaaahhhhhh! *sigh of relief*
sorry it took a bit, but after noticing the folks had already started a blues gang in the meantime, I've finally found the time, mood and stellar constellation to lay down some reggae collab template tonight :)
I hope wjl will cover the bass needs and kimbo will add some smooth guitar... if anyone would like to vocalize or hornify a reggae tune, let me know :)
Also really happy to see whitedrum and all the others that have been added to Dicks group chart in post 1... this whole thing will cover quite a lot of folks and styles, really really looking forward!
No more Ted-jokes. Thank you :)

Hi Joe,

welcome, and I think you did already with posting to this thread. You'll either be invited into one of the projects, or you can also start your own of course.

Edit: just saw that you're a fan of Larnell Lewis? So am I - great guy and great player as well (like everyone in Snarky). Saw him in Frankfurt, he was awesome!

2nd edit: the bast band video I ever saw - just had to buy it:

@Joe:
I will set up a wikiloops-hosted band project for you as a start (you may upload a template track and the video file there) - you being a drummer, I do assume you'd like to start a jam/group, correct?
Seeing that we have disco, blues, rock, reggae and songo/world grooves so far, it would be especially cool if you'd like to add some other style or flavor, but anything goes...
If you like to, let me know whom else you'd like to involve in that collab,
otherwise we might as well publish your template here publicly and see who'd like to hop on :)

@all:
I've been enjoying the videos I have received so far, and quite a lot of time goes into assembling them as they are submitted. Rendering these videos takes forever and three days, but I think I'm safe saying that the first one by our disco group is moving towards the final cut phase.
I see some awesome jams coming together, thank you very much to the by now 14 peple who've already submitted some video, I'm really happy to see there is that much activity (I knew it would be hard to get you to get your cams out...:) )
Last & forthe fun of it, let me share another screenshot from my video cutting sessions, without "leaking" who that is:

Have a great sunday out there & keep it coming :)

Just bumping this thread with some progress-news :)

To all who are still about to do their video takes, here's a little funny sketch I picked up from the reggae group - it does make sense to think about positioning a little ;)

I've spent most of today mixing, cutting and rendering the "disco" groups video, and I keep seeing really creative video takes as they are submitted via the groups ... keep it coming folks, I'm absolutely aware this is a bit more time-taking then doing a quick mp3 remix, but the results look very rewarding to me.
I'll keep you updated, now have a nice weekend yall!

If there is anyone interested, I have made a track and a video for a Wiki Boogie track, so if anyone fancies joining me send me a PM and i'll set it up. Needs drums (or washboard or spoons), bass and singer, and then we'll see :) #136936

look on your band page ...I put some ideas up
he who works with his hands, is a labourer
he who works with his hands and his head, is a craftsman
he who works with his hands, his head, and his heart, is an artist.....(I try not to work)

quick update:

Watch out for the second groups video to go live tomorrow -
Thanks to Drumshticks, axenvocs, major 3rd & mortheol for this rock solid second contribution to our video series.

There are at least three more groups in the process of putting together their video collaboration, and I'll once more share a screenshot from my video cutting desk with you tonight:

You may feel free to guess who is taking part there :)

If anyone is up to joining the video collab by starting another group, that's still an option, but seeing that submission should end by july, and that itdoestake quitesome time until everyone hashada chance to do the video, you better get started soonish :)
Just let me know if you're in need of a video collaboration band space.

Looking foreward to your comments on tomorrows video, titled:

I am completely down to do any video that anyone wants vocals on. I prefer the metal screaming genre... But I am more than willing to do vocals on any track.... Just shoot me a message and let us begin a sweet WIKI VID adventure!!!! THIS IS SO EPIC!!! CHEERS TO THE MUSICIANS!!!!!!:W:W:W:W

As you will hopefully have seen on the wikiloops homepage or in the latest site-news,
the blues video went live a couple of days ago :)

Here is the link in case you have missed it for some reason:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxTSZeIlr94

I'll get busy cutting up the reggae video next, that ended up with a total of 10 (!) participants, so it's going to be quite the cutting fest :)
Next after that, I'm hoping the "songo" group will finish up, which is also coming about tastalicious... some of the individual videos are so cool, it really itches me to share previews, but I'll have to keep them for some more time... too good!
I've got to admit that releasing one video per 14days seems to be a realistic pace of going about, such a 4-6 participants video can easily take 2-3 working days for cutting and rendering the images, plus the sound mixing...
but don't read that as a complaint, it's just expectable, and I'm truly happy to be able to put these clips together.
I do feel they allow yet another view on who we are and what we do on wikiloops, and -judging by the members feeback on my news posts- that seems to be appreciated quite a lot.
From my experience, such videos also gain a certain type of documentary value once a few years have passed by.
In german, we have this saying along the lines of "we will never meet this young again"(peple say that before leaving parties), and there is some wisdom to that I guess.
Good thing to have these videos of the wikiloopers 2018, and - even tho it does / did add a lot of extra stress and organizational issues, I'm absolutely happy the "open format" (as in "anyone can join the video project") got so many, and so many quite different people involved.
Doing a "casted" video-collab would have definetly been awhole lot easier,
but would have never caught the diverse flavors the way the current series does.

I hope you guys and girls out there are enjoying this as much as I am, and please don't forget to show the participants some <3 for stepping up and representing their musical flavor!

Last, I won't end without stating one last time that you could still group up & join the video series...
I feel we are still missing some purely acoustic group, and I know Herman420 and some other folks are keen to get some real metal thing going... it's open - but looking at the amount of time the othergroups have been needing to finish off their collabs, I must admit that it really is high time to get started.
As the blues video has already demonstrated in a good way, takingpart in the video series doesn#t necessaryly mean one has to appear "in person"- I did like slins approach with the animated singer verymuch, and there are several other creative solutions to that coming up in the reggae video as well...
just get in touch with me if you are up to get something going!

all the best for tonight
Richard
