Es gibt noch keinen Remix von dieser Session!
This jam has gone a bit bonkers. I shortened the track to reduce my risk of a heart attack before the end. Difficult to mix. Thank you Harmut and Tamim

Thank you very much, Wade.... Long way to go (was listening to departed Alex today... )

He was a funny one. Amazing technical master (wouldn't we all give up one nut for it!), yet he seemed to always be "channeling" some famous player Garbarek, Coltrane, Kenny G etc.) instead of playing from within. It was only when he played flute that it seem that he was genuine.
His leaving was a sad affair. He was convinced that the rules shouldn't apply to him and he could bring standards here to play. +3

I wondered why he had left... Standards? Some people have standards. Some don't need them
A great pity and a learning opportunity lost. I have learned so much in a short time from all of the musicians that I have listened to and played alongside in this Wikiloops environment. Alex's playing was a particularly rich seam of sax technique, as you say
You are right about the sound-a-like approach, but that in itself can help the likes of me pick out what makes someone sound they way they do +0

He's very present with a "following" on SOTW, so you can get in touch with him there. He's posted lots of tracks there so no problem picking up on his technical aspects. Or, you can go to the source and just check out the players he copies. His day job is as a music instructor at a University in Wellington New Zealand, so he (hopefully) likes advising and teaching. I recommend compliments to his rather large ego to get what you want. If you have no joy through SOTW I can probably obtain an E-mail address or contact through his work. DON'T mention my name as he decided I was a bad guy when suggesting that channeling Kenny G wasn't a good match for Wikiloops. I also let him know he was violating this site's policy and endangering Wikiloops by playing standards here...which is why he left in a huff. That position was reinforced by the moderators and Richard. It's always been wikiloops "Achilles heel" due to potential threats of copyright infringement. Keeping the site "clean" remains a top priority.

Yes, I get the ego bit and everything else you say adds up in the context... A basic ethos of Wikiloops seems to be equality and no-one should be more equal, no matter their musical skill. I'm content to stay in da loops and explore the musical possibilities, rather than persuing Mr Nyman
Also good to hear he's active elsewhere and not dead in a ditch +1

I'm positive he's very much alive and playing as well as ever. He might be a good teacher. Fishinmisso (Mark) corresponded with him and I think got some pointers, but you'd have to ask him.

I think I'm appreciating your core message by increments over time, having just listened to a Courtney Pine album where he is more Coltrane than Coltrane
