someone playing football in the park
Mr Johnson sitting on his front step
listening to his old time radio
Mrs Johnson’s there doing the one-step
dancing like she did so long ago
Casey and his brother on their skateboards
Rushing down the hill without a care
Hoping that their Momma doesn’t notice
that they’re not in bed yet, best beware
Lucy’s on the phone to her friend Suzie
telling her about her boyfriend Bill
Hey you know a girl just can’t be choosy
expect them to behave, they never will.
Tommy’s on his way out to the night shift
working on that same old factory line
hoping to earn some extra for a small gift
It’s his baby’s birthday, she’ll be nine.
Grace is waiting tables at the Diner
hoping that the Boss won’t bend her ear
‘Cause she’s having troubles that aren’t minor
losing her job tonight is what she fears.
Bobby’s playing poker down in the basement
hoping that he’d get a Royal Flush
putting all his money on it and then spent
the next five minutes leaving in a rush
