OK, so I sat down to do a couple more templates after the 'Queen' one and I just plain ran out of inspiration. Just couldn't get my limbs round the ideas I had so I've shelved them for tomorrow.

Instead, I set Reaper's metronome to 155bpm and spent three minutes kicking seven bells out of my drums. It's completely jammed but I think it's structurally sound.

Have fun.

No reverb on the HD

EDIT: Hmmm, it's a bit kick-heavy, isn't it? I'll re-upload ...

..a mate of mine 9sound engineer for some big bands taught me to mike the kick off axis and tape e credit card over the kick spot.. then change the beater for a wooden one. this gives a real crisp attack and still allows for a nice whoosh of air past he mike. (sorry if i'm teaching my granny:) ) +1

mpointon Thanks, Kimbo. All useful points :)

My kick is miked at about 5 o'clock which is where the 4" sound hole is. I point the D112 to the right of where the pedal hits the head. My kick pedal beater has four different surfaces: two felt, two hard plastic. I'm using the hard, flat plastic surface (maximum power!).

My Yamaha kit has a Remo 'Falam Slam' on it - a sticky-backed kevlar surface you stick where the beater hits the head and has a similar effect to a credit card. The Spaun kit, which I'm using here, doesn't have one as I haven't got round to buying one yet (it helps the head live a *lot* longer too).

I think, in this case, I left the kick fader up too high, basically.
