OK, I'll admit to being dumb/naive. How many different stems can there be? I really hope you add something more to give someone like me some musical clues! You know how much I dig your compositions! +2

fanne Thanks Wade! you mean by clues what you can do with the stems?
These are the raw recording tracks from the song. Alice asked for them so she could sharpen here mixing skills. She will upload her vocal tracks too, so anyone who likes the mix can have some fun.
You load the stems on different tracks in your DAW (I already put the different instruments of the drums and the strings together ‘cause there would be too many stems to upload)
You will need some plug- ins to do the job, there are some awesome one’s free on the net.
If you think the bass is too light, you can do some EQing and boost the low end(there is a little reverb on that track ‘cause that’s what they did in the 60ties and I recorded it that way) you can do some compression or some low pass filtering, maybe some delay ‘cause that’s what they did in the 60ties too.
You can manipulate the drum track, EQ, compression…so it sits better in the track, roll off the high end of the cymbals etc..
You can copy the String track and set it a few millsec later to start, do some EQing on it, reduce the volume and you get a 180° spectrum for the strings.
You can get rid of that nasty “Tchiiing”in the guitar part ‘cause it’s single coil Fender by doing some EQing, put some reverb or delay on it …or both!
In my mix I’ve put some delay on the Wurly, that wasn’t a good idea, it misses focus.
All tracks must have some kind of EQing, so they‘ll have their own space in the mix, otherwise it will get muddy.
All instruments should be panned somewhere in the 180° spectrum, otherwise it will sound mono (which can be an option too )Bass and lead vocal should be in the middle, You can try to spread the backings, it opens up the mix.
Then you can do the mastering.
Mixing isn’t an easy job but it can be fun

Wade Thanks, I think I get it now. So it's not the track that came up...that's just the drum part and the rest can be found elsewhere. I wish I was good at editing, or even liked doing it. May be a fun creative exercise for some, but I'll give it a miss. I'm an old guy...can't even text. Know how to record and do some chopping and minor manipulation, otherwise it's all too much like work.

Admiration for you and others who can work your miracles...I'm just a jammer/player without further ambition or ability. Take 50 years (or more) away and I'd likely jump at these sorts of opportunities to learn and explore. Now it's mostly just frustration when not knowing or understanding. To me DAW = Duh (homer Simpson); Plug-ins?...stuff not run by batteries?; Compression?...that's what happens to my ass when I sit too long?...etc.

Thanks for the detailed reply, hopefully it will give others clues.
