Down in the hills, where I come from
and the grass is so blue
we keep our corn in a big crock jug
and they call it - Good old mountain Dew

Then in the evening - when the sun's going down
and our strength begins to sag
on that porch we gather round
and we play that bluegrass rag

Neighbors are dancing - and the wife is too
Kids caught a possum in a bag
everybody's happy - and I am too
as we play that bluegrass rag

Kids getting sleepy and headed for bed
I think I might too
But not until we play another round
of that bluegrass rag for you
