This is awesome! Three of L.A.s most in demand session musicians playing for fun at home.
It is truly magnificent listening to these guys jam for fun.

Sean Hurley the bassist played with many names including John Mayer.
Jake Reed the drummer has worked with Katy Perry
Kait Dunton has worked on film scores and television themes.

"Taxi" was an american TV show in the late 70's that launched many famous careers including Danny Devito and Christopher LLoyd (the professor from Back to the Future).
Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing this Joe ;) Sean Hurley already catched my ears with his tasty "flatwound sound" playing, I really like this style.

I have bought an American Standard Precision which I recieve monday. It is same color as my jazz bass...Midnight Wine. So I will have twin basses that look identical. One a P one a J.

I based my decision to get one after watching Sean and my newfound appreciation of flatwounds.

Im asking my luthier to install a Fender Jaguar mute like Sean has. Its just a flip piece that foam mutes. It involves drilling a one inch deep hole before the bridge so Im letting him do it as Im a coward.

Also thanks to him Im looking at an amazing unit called a Radial HDI to stand out in the mix. Check out 11:50 in the video

That's a good decision in my opinion Joe since a P bass with flats fits so well for many mixes. The "mute" on my flatwound P bass is a piece from a kitchen sponge. It doesn't look as neat as a pro dumper but works well ;)

The Radial DI looks very interesting - up to now I have always used the Ampeg B-15 emulation from Garage Band or Logic Pro for my P basses which gives a nice warm tone with slightly compressed mids. I'm looking forward to your rating of the DI!

Which flatwound strings are you planning to use? There are big differences - bright D'Addario Chromes vs. the heavy La Bella James Jamerson etc.

I currently have Thomastiks ready for the bass and have a pack of Labella in the drawer. I heard this and went with Thomastiks months ago. I love this tone. The new P bass will get Fender 63 pickups added first thing like he’s playing .
I know Sean Hurley plays Labella.

I only heard positive feedback about Thomastiks and have to try them somewhere in the future. The La Bella Jamersons 52-110 are really beasts and will give you strong hands - I've used them on a '57 "road worn" P bass that I sold before the loops brought me back to making music ;)

A gutsy cover, for sure, but trance EDM maestro Banco de Gaia pulled it off IMO.
