Say something about Ai

I don't really agree with Tee who says if you hear an Ai track, move on. I'm not going to do that anymore. There's been two or three here that I've just posted the technical results on the suspected track after I scanned their upload with an Ai detector. Those scanners only work on pure Ai tracks though and they were as pure as the driven snow. One member just went silent and the other fessed up and apologized for cheating. Problem is, those scanners don't work on tracks that are real except for just the vocals or a lead part being tampered with. I'm not into squealing and banning folks either. I really don't see it being a big problem here on the other hand. Not at all. If most of us are aware of it, I guess we should just say something when we hear it, something like "hey bro is that Ai enhanced? Tsk Tsk .. not kosher amigo" haha :D And of course Dick could add in the declaration when uploading, "no Ai please" Three words. or is that Four? Just be a little more direct about it. Kinda like what Josh said earlier "f*ck Ai" :D

I use Apple's Logic pro x recording software, there are many pre recorded sounds and effects to use, there are vocal tracks as well which I believe are real vocalists, they can be used in any key.
You can be creative with what is available... but as this discussion is about AI is what I use classed as AI?
I'm only here for fun and do what i do and as always on the loops it is either liked or not.:|

In the near future there is going to come a time when AI tells Mrs. Gee that she is wrong and needs to calm down...this will mark the end of AI and possibly computers all together. :--

Now I understand why AI data centers require so many gigawatts of power.

I do not regard AI as an autonomous creator, but rather as a set of sophisticated tools capable of accelerating or facilitating certain tasks:
exploring harmonic progressions that I might not have thought of myself;
suggesting melodic variations;
proposing orchestrations or arrangements;
assisting with mixing and mastering by detecting frequency-related issues;
helping with lyric writing, rhyme searches, or rephrasing;
serving as an educational tool for analyzing works or musical styles.
In all these cases, it is still the human being who retains the artistic intent, aesthetic judgment, and final decision-making authority. In my humble opinion, AI is comparable to a sequencer, a spell checker, a synthesizer, or an assistive plugin: it enhances certain capabilities without replacing the author's sensitivity and creative vision.
The debate becomes more heated when one moves from assistance to the complete generation of a work. Some argue that, at that point, the human contribution is essentially reduced to writing a prompt. Others contend that the processes of selection, iteration, and artistic direction already constitute genuine creative work. At present, there is no consensus on this issue.
As for the origin of training data, this is indeed one of the most controversial aspects. Significant legal and ethical debates exist regarding the use of copyrighted works to train certain models. The situation varies according to the country, the applicable legislation, and judicial decisions, all of which continue to evolve.

If I can just be the bull in DidierS`s china shop for a moment ...
Even if I agreed with you that musical taste, slop selection and decision making were relevent arguments (note: I certainly do NOT agree, if I select an item from the menu for you to eat, it does not make me the cook), the main issue as I understand it is generative AI. And while there may be a place for it (somewhere in hell or on Spotify), it - to my understanding of what WL is about - better knock on another door.
Didier, really, you have shown again and again that you are much better than a copyist. If you were to let Suno & Co create ideas, even if you were then to re-record them yourself, you should never ever mention terms like "artistic intent".
I`m sure that if I were to ask you Why you played a particular riff or phrase you would come up with an answer that contains at least in part some emotional element. But if you are just rehashing what some AI template has come up with, your answer would be zilch, zero, nada, nothing, rien, garnix. Your emotional input would be blank. Basically it would disqualify you from the human race :@
If reaching perfection was truely a goal, I`d not only give up playing music altogether, but try to become the middle man between the AI orchestra and an AI audience.
There, I`ve said it. And I know Didier will understand, because he is a human, emotional entity.

Sorry Hartmut !
I’ve been playing guitar for over 50 years (admittedly with long periods of inactivity). I learned to read sheet music, explored harmony, and figured out parts by ear from guitarists like Django, Hendrix, and Segovia; I’ve taken an interest in every style—from flamenco, Gypsy jazz, hard rock, and fusion to fingerpicking. I’ve played in various bands and sometimes fell for female singers with spellbinding voices (that celestial instrument)... Given that background, there is no way I’m going to settle for musical "fast food." In a sense, a guitarist adopts "licks" and reuses them intelligently in their own performances—though there is a risk of playing nothing but musical sequences that are predictable and expected by the audience. At a certain point, it becomes routine. I’m grateful to software like Scaler 3 for introducing me to richer, unexpected harmonies that open up vast possibilities and give me the means to break free from clichés...

Great answer....and a very emotional one. Exactly what I want (and need) to hear in your playing. That is the sort of thing that AI can only fake. Give me the real stuff anyday.

P.S.: In my previous post, I forgot to pay tribute to all the musicians on Wikiloops (including guitarists like Nick, Alex, Jeff, and many others who are so inspiring).

I have just trawled through this long thread, much of which I don't understand, but there were a few points that came to me and made me smile.
* Do AI detectors use AI to detect AI :D
* Has anyone used AI to write posts in this thread? Not that it matters, I wish they would tap into AI on a few more threads.
I don't feel strongly about how music is made, if I don't like it I turn it off. If it has a positive effect on me I play it twice :)
Speaking personally, even though I know AI can be used to write lyrics I believe when non-human writers are my competition it just inspires me to be more and more original, so I guess that's a good thing. The problem is ..... I may be the only one who knows the truth :@

AI is here to stay, and we simply need to ensure humans get to remain human. I like the idea of reserving certain spots—like jobs—specifically for people. Honestly, the more reservations for humans, the better.
