It always looks so nice this time of year,
But today I pray for stormy weather,
Hopin' for those dark clouds to appear,
Today's the day that I get out of prison,
But I ain't celebratin' and here's why,
In ninety minutes time I get the needle,
And not long after that I guess I'll die.

But l ain't rich so that's the way it goes.
Ate my rib-eye steak and met the chaplain,
Wrote my wife and kids for one last time,

But please do somethin' 'bout that pretty sky,
Send the storm clouds down from off the mountain,
I just want some thunder when I die.
