3 Memorable Albums (What are yours?)

Paul McCartney was recently asked what albums were the soundtrack of his life.
His answer was (1) Music from Big Pink by The Band (2) Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys and (3)Harvest by Neil Young.

What would your answer be? Not necessarily the greatest albums, although they might just well be, but three you remember for various reasons throughout your life. I found it easier to not overthink my answer.
These three came to mind immediately. It was interesting working out why they did.:)

A good topic!

Hmmm what were three albums which got me going? Let me think...

When I was still quite young, I broke my leg in an accident (car vs me on a niece's bicycle - car won). I got a bit of compensation out of this, so while laying at home and curing my leg (and getting private lessons instead of school), I could afford a first LP record player. And someone got me this one:

Yeah I know I know - strange kind of music, but it was a start.

Later I got into Rock, and this band moved me - it was also the first super big rock band which I heard live at the sports stadium in Cologne:

But what turned me around to something a bit more "complicated", but still very very beautiful was an album of a young French violinist, and the title of that album was "Enigmatic Ocean". Here's a well-known piece from that album:

Still love that one (although "Highway Star" or "Smoke On The Water", well, what do I have to tell anyone?) :D

I was a big Metallica fan when I was young, but I didn't include Metallica's songs because everyone has heard them a thousand times. I also loved bands like Sepultura, Skid Row, Ugly Kid Joe, Megadeth...

If we talk albums, Kiss's first album was among the big experiences. Also Wasp's Headless Children is still one of the albums I love. In fact, Wasp is still one of my favorite bands.
Anthrax: Sound of white noice, Gary moore: Still got a blues...There are many good records. In fact, it is much easier to share this link. :D

(Of course, I listened to a lot of Finnish rock music, but I didn't include those videos here either, as I don't believe the songs would give you much.)
(I have also found many good bands in new music, but I have to admit that the bands from my youth are the dearest. That's why I didn't list any new names.)

I didn't think about the videos to come here too much.
-Paradise Lost's album Icon has always been one of my favorite albums. -I chose Skynd because it's a new band.
-I chose Waltari because it's Finnish and it has a lot of good memories associated with it.

tough topic to narrow it to just 3. at a young age, the Slave album (and that cover) just stuck with me. listening to this music at like 8-9yrs old just seemed taboo but for some reason I loved it.

I was in college when I first heard that debut Rage Against the Machine album, it blew me away.

I was cemented in rock/metal after that. as far as a 3rd album, hard to pick that last one. Maybe Humble Pie's Smokin' album, or System of a Down's debut album, maybe that first Deftones album. An odd album I liked, maybe an honorable mention is The Urge - Receiving the Gift of Flavor

Man I hate you! :) I have been sitting here for AGES trying to find an answer. Don't over think you said. Yeah right. What does it mean "soundtrack of my life"? I am 60, I had a long life. Don't over think you said, it's like saying to a dog don't... ah well never mind. I will choose 3 albums that I listened to a lot in my youth.

Special mention to King Crimson "In the court of the Crimson King" , Allmann Brothers "Live at the Filmore east", The Sweet "Desolation Boulevard", Free "Fire and Water", Steve Miller "Fly like an eagle" and any Album by John Lee Hooker. Don't over think he said :D

Pick any three from the following ten:

* ELO - Out of the blue
* Queen - Night at the opera
* Gerry Rafferty - City to city
* Lucifers Friend - Mean machine
* Miles Davis - Kind of blue
* Triumph - Allied Forces
* Saga - Silent Knight
* Rush - Roll the Bones
* Alfred Brendel & Chicago Symphony Orchestra - Beethoven Piano Concerts

If I am stuck on a deserted island, these would be the 3 albums I bring and listen to in rotation. All of them are live albums that were well done and captured the true essence of how great these bands were live.
I have all these on vinyl from when I was a young kid :W
1) Rush - Exit Stage Left
2) Yes - Yessongs
3) Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same

I'll choose one record from each of my favourite decades, 70s, 80s, 90s.

70s
ZZ Top was the first band I really got into when I was around twelve. Degüello is the first album I heard from that band, and it's still my favourite from them, but I like that 80s and 90s guitar sound they had too, full of harmonics. To be honest, I was more influenced by 80s and 90s ZZ Top guitar-wise but Degüello is kind of the epitome of their 70s sound and I think it's their best decade overall. For this decade, I could have picked some Black Sabbath, maybe Paranoid or Master of Reality, or Saga's Images At Twilight. Secret Treaties by Blue Oyster Cult is another one I really like from that decade.

80s
Holy Diver by DIO. I think it's the best heavy metal album of the 80s along with Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath. I could have picked something from Metallica, Master of Puppets or And Justice For All. Silent Knight by Saga and 1984 by Van Halen deserve a mention too.

90s
Maybe King For A Day, Fool For a Lifetime by Faith No More... hard to choose, Seasons in the Abyss by Slayer could be my pick too, or Twisted Into Form by Forbidden. Maybe Chaos AD by Sepultura. I should mention Recycler and Antenna by ZZ Top too.

PS : I saw some of you picked some Hendrix, if I had to choose something from the 60s, it would be Axis : Bold As Love by The Jimi Hendrix Experience as I really dig that album.
