Live jam with Chris Fenton from Walsh River Australia. Totally mixed up genre and feel. Mostly Hungarian minor mode with raga Flamenco pretensions. Good for a laugh.

yes very nice jam ! this piece could have lasted 10mn !! :D +1
Wade
Wade Wish I could last for 10 minutes! A bit raw being just a modal jam, but glad you like.

Hope to be seeing you soon. Have not had confirmation of my airline tickets yet and getting a bit worried.

I love Balkan music! We need a fiddler and i will do the bass! ;) Love the long notes and the melancholy <3 +1
Wade
Wade Balkan? Yea, I love those wild Balkan things in 7/4...but this ain't one of them. Tongue in cheek? I can't tell...no matter, glad you like. +1
eGiL
eGiL Hungarian minor scale = Gypsy minor scale, Balkan music = Gypsy music :P (or at least in my mind!) :D I mean it could be! Sounds like that part before someone shouts out loud and they go off like a rocket on steroids :D Anyways, i love it! <3 +1
Wade
Wade OK, maybe it's ready for you to add the 2nd part in 7/4 @ 200 BPM? I'd love it! +1
FrankieJ
Lovely +1
Wade
Wade I can only imagine how much better you would have played this. +1
FrankieJ
FrankieJ I dont know about that my friend.
I must research this "Hungarian minor mode"
Still have some cousins in old Glogowatz :)

Wade
Wade My Father is from Budapest! I grew up hearing Hungarian (can only speak a few swear words), and hearing some of the music.

Hungarian minor is either a thief too young to prosecute or someone who digs up zircon and sells it as diamonds (an attempt at Hungarian style humor. One of their favorite jokes about themselves is that a Hungarian is someone who enters a revolving door behind you and comes out in front.)

FrankieJ
FrankieJ ha ha that is funny. I've heard the revolving door :) Apparently I have some gypsy cousins in Horia. I think not too distant from Budapest. +1
Wade
Wade Only been to Hungary once...1958! I think things have changed pretty dramatically since then. Not sure if I'll be back there ever again. Most of the relatives I met are long dead. I'm sure I have lots of cousins there...probably none I've ever met though. +1
GlezBass
Fantastic mixed music textures :) Excellent sound for live jam music +1
Wade
Wade Best compliment is that you took it and made so much more out of it. +1
GlezBass
GlezBass Enjoy with this jam, friend .... +1

The first word that comes to my mind is: magical. So essential, so dramatically suspended, so exotic, almost out of time. A perfect symbiosis between the voice of your sax and that guitar. Just two minutes of a fascinating journey. Wonderful Wade and my compliments to that superb guitar player. +1
Wade
Wade I will give Chris your compliment. The "out of time" is more appropriate than you think. Chris has been playing on his own for so long that he has difficulty playing "in time". Something like this works because the timing is very "loose". Glad you enjoyed. I certainly enjoyed playing it. +1
RobM
How the hell did i miss this !!??!!
Great title Awesome jamming !!! :)

Wade
Wade You're still invited up for a jam...will be here for two more weeks. Will be back in mid October for another month. +1
RobM
RobM Greatly appreciate the offer my friend but life is quite mad at the moment. Rain cheque ? +1
Wade
Wade Of course...just don't put it off too long...I'm getting pretty old! +1
AnneCozean
Chris' opening guitar measure was JUST the TICKET:
the little dive at :05, flutter at :08, the insistent :10, the 2 drive you mad drones...all
fantastic foreplay before your sexy sax @ :57 - ooooo capital E! 2:01 - gorgeous.
glad they still grow musicians like you 2, Wade. thank you!

Wade Anne, what can I say? Thanks would be a good start. This is just stuff that happens sometimes when I get together with musical friends. No plan...just play and see what happens. +0
