Well you know,
Isn’t life like trying to herd a cat.
Too many things are going on
And don’t tell me to be cool with that.
‘Cause I’m spinning plates
I’m on a wire
I can’t look down
What do you require from me
I’m not getting any clues
There’s nothing obvious to see.
Am I too close
I might burn myself
And land in hot water.
Mama told me always
She said stay away from things like that
And I ought to listen to her
‘Cause she knows, ‘cause she knows
What’s best for me.
‘Cause I’ll always be,
I’ll always be her little girl.
Here I am
Lost in the woods
Throwing breadcrumbs
to so many birds.
Tell me have you heard that story
One so familiar to me.
Am I crazy
Turn the lights out
Now all of this can go away
There’s a lump in my throat
pain in my heart
all the letters you wrote
are yesterday’s news.
