hmmm. comparing it with the template track you played to, there is too much audio quality lost on the way... too much overall volume maybe? sounds like you crossed the clipping line at some points :) Not bad, besides the sound issue!

i just installed pro-tools, still getting used to the software, and to mixing in general. i agree it sounds a bit hot

Dick's correct. Track is a bit hot, but there is a good guitar style in there if you can tame it. Like in the 60's before fuzz petals, just crank everything until it goes distorted.
