Well I took my dog out walking
Expecting some solitude
Now I hear my neighbors fighting
There goes my happy mood

When the shouting starts in evenings
Perhaps it’s a full moon

I’m hoping they can get along

Her screams are like a feline
In heat or something worse
His yells attempt to calm her down
A vocabulary of curse

I guess divorce is not an option
For characters like these
There’s far too much at stake
For a compromise to appease

Perhaps it’s just her hormones
A menopausal glitch
Or maybe it’s his midlife crisis
That’s created this awful hitch

I’d like some peace and quiet
So I can write this song
But boy here comes the shouting
That makes my meter wrong

Thank god I’ve got some headphones
That drown the fights by day
But when I simply want some sleep
The fighting won’t stay away
