Too Far, Too Fast


You drove your Porsche
Monster at the wheel
Zero to 54
In ten seconds
Flat tires,
Chipped chrome,
Still you raced when you
Could have curbed
The bends came,
But no, full throttle 'til the end
Stopping for a quick fix
Fast gas, and Ethyl you pumped
Butane in your veins
For breakfast, fumes at night and
Then you took a turn
Too tight to remember
Your gasket was blown
And reeled
Down hills you wouldn't surrender
Out of control,
Shifting without a clutch,
Look ma, no hands
As you wheeled your way past everyone
Running on empty
As the sparks flied by
You found your match and
Your tires blew
No brakes now
As you swerved to your finish,
You who were premium
Ending up unleaded
Alone at the tank.
