Children all around me
I’m sweating in my shoes
They’re running through the crosswalks
This battle I’m going to lose

They’re dropped off by their parents
On their way to work
They’re in such a hurry,
Oh here’s another jerk

If I don’t hold this stop sign
Way above my head
Those kids will be in danger
A thought that gives me dread

Although I wear this outfit
Those cars haven’t a clue
They think that I’m the billboard
Not one with a job to do

They often run the stoplights
They’re often on their phones
And most are often texting
In their hurry to get home

It’s so fun when it’s raining
My boots are soaked right through
The wind it beats my hair to death
And kills my umbrella too

And even in the summer
The sun beats me to death
Although I drink a gallon
To me it tastes like meth
