A sad and lovely track from Master guitarist FrankieJ. Such an intimate song that comes from his heart to us. Alto sax added and hopefully fitting with his beautiful playing.

Ah Wade. What a lovely melody and story you have created here<3<3 +2

Wade All due to your lovely template. Everything was there for me to play with. So glad if you like it. Adds can be funny as we may have an expectation. Surprises can be good or ...less good. Hopefully the former. Everyone is so "polite here" it's hard to know...even though I'd be just as pleased to know when something isn't working and why. If your intention is to entertain others, then it can be valuable to know what works or doesn't. +1

FrankieJ Everything about your play here works for me Wade. Pretty melody played with emotion and finesse.
Smoothly I might add:)
I can offer no negative critique on your add. There are no negatives here to my ear.
I suspect you could walk into any recording studio as a session player and be paid well for your talents.

I’m reminded that just five years ago when I joined wikiloops, my guitar had sat in a closet for ten years. When someone joins me, especially on one of the acoustic numbers it usually becomes a very emotional experience for me. Such is the case here. Quite honestly most times I don’t know what to say. I guess the easy route for me to take becomes the short and sweet comment.

It is wonderful the opportunities that wikiloops provides. I never performed with a saxophonist until I joined here. There might have been sax in my high school orchestra that I performed with over fifty years ago. Can’t recall.

Between you and the other fine sax players here I have a new appreciation for the instrument.
Previously all I knew about sax was the sax solo in Pink Floyd's "Us and Them" number. Always loved that one.

I look forward to our next adventure.

Just remembered my guitar instructor assigned me the song "Yakety Sax" as a lesson very early on. I'm sure you are familiar with that one:)

Wade So very kind of you to give such a detailed response that has such warmth and feeling. The short pats on the back (which are nice) can be difficult to judge whether the music has really touch people or it's just a polite acknowledgement. It takes time and effort to go into details. Sincere thanks.

Sax really isn't a popular instrument, so I expect that many don't have much time for it. My reality is that I don't listen to sax a lot either. I certainly don't aspire to play in the style of sax players from the middle of the last century, and would rather be relevant now and exploring other possibilities. Listening to guitarists like Bill Frisell, Ralph Towner, and bass players gives me inspiration.

I don't know "Yakety Sax" and don't play "standards", although I know some of the tunes from having heard them and just being that old. I've never played "Take Five" or any other "sax tune". If my hands were suited to piano or guitar I probably would have played those. If my voice was something more than mediocre I would have kept up singing. So sax is just a relatively easy musical tool that unfortunately carries a lot of cliches and 1950s jazz baggage.

Hopefully we will have lots more plays together. I've downloaded many of your tracks, but am notoriously slow at getting tracks back here. That's partially by design as posting more than two tracks a week results in nobody listening...why bother? Mainstream instruments (guitar, bass, drums, keys, voice) will always get everyone's attention. The sax is a peripheral novelty, so has a very limited appeal.

I've started sending tracks that I've added to back to the previous players rather than posting. My backlog of un-posted tracks is around 50 and recorded but not edited is over 100. If those other players wish to post them as "mixes" they'd be welcome to...that could include you!?

Cheers Frankie.

FrankieJ I too have a backlog of tunes. Not quite as many as you. Some going back to 2016 in various stages of completion. I would love to hear your unpublished works but it might be hard to promise that I would not upload the mixes ;)

Funny thing about Yakety Sax, it was years later while watching the Benny Hill comedy show that it occurred to me that I already knew the tune from an early guitar lesson. It was the show's theme song if I remember correctly.
My guitar teacher, long since gone, would pen the notation for that stuff from memory. I always found that amazing.

Wade OK, Benny Hill...I hate to admit that I ever watched, but there it is...I know the tune...if you can all it that!? Cheers Frankie. +1
