Two Lonely People

He's got 40 acres a mile from the interstate
She works at the truck stop at exit 98
They work so many hours
they don't even know their fate
their paths will cross and sparks will fly
For now they'll have to wait

Cuz that's just how the story goes
It's never a straight line
There's twists and turns and lonely nights
All things in their good time

He lost his wife 3 years ago
she's been divorced for five
They keep going, working hard
even though they're barely alive

Then a strange happened
the day that he walked in
She took one look and heard her heart
start beating again

Her knees were shaky she walked up
and gave him a big smile
Can I get you some coffee
take a load off for awhile?

He looked into eyes so deep and green
They took his breath away
He wanted to say something smart
"Yeah" was all he could say

She clocked out and sat with him
They talked til 3am
Trading pictures of their kids
And all their dreams for them

One year to the day they met
At sunset on his farm
They took their vows and tied the knot
Never more to be apart

And that's just how the story goes
