On the Run

She goes on what'sapp
to look for any trace of him
she sees that he was last online at 12.31
He's changed his profile photo
to one she's never seen before
but all the same
he looks as if he's really having fun.
His Instagram is private
his twitter page remains unchanged
but there he is on LinkedIn
in a smart blue shirt and tie
it's not the one she gave him
for his birthday she notices
and wonders for a moment
is asking herself why.

Her phone rings, it's Catherine
she's calling about lunch maybe
Tomorrow, or Friday
whatever day will suit
But she doesn't understand
that lunch and a Prosecco
just can't make up for losing him
whoever thought it would..
that it would.

She finds herself thinking
of the happiness that they once shared
The silly moments that they spent
being together when he cared
enough to call when he'd be late
for dinner or a movie
when everything was even better
than she thought it ever could be
But now the phone just doesn't ring
there is no text just saying hi
a little note to make her smile
now everything just makes her cry
remembering the love they had
was it in a different universe
and how could things turn out so bad
don't tell her that it could be worse
