Painted Angel

A vicious night turned turmoil within
A vengeful fright that lingered on in
The words that brought chaos to peace
Allowing for my dark thought's release

It all happened with a flash of life's force
And from that moment it altered our course
And took me along for a tour of reality
That shattered my blind sense of security

I held onto my fading memories
For it was all that remained
Until the day came suddenly
That you appeared to me again

Painted angel, alive on the wall
Sharing my life one more time
Sister angel, you're finally home
Gazing upon us, so divine

Surrounded by the bare trees of January
As a child I left you alone in your sanctuary
Our visits diminished due to the distance
But my memories remained persistant

A figure so familiar in beauty and form
So pure and abstract with details reborn
A presence intent on soothing our fears
Warming our hearts and drying our tears

It was the kind thought of a friend
That created our newly found treasure
A pleasant beginning to a painful end
That brought us all back together
