Everything is going your way.
Your life is like a row of dominos,
Each tile facing in the right direction.

You have created a fortress
Around your life,
The walls seem tall and sturdy,
But just wait until something happens…

Because something will happen,
Something to test the foundation
You have carefully created
To place you above the din of living.

Will your handsome house
With its tall cold walls
Hold you tight at night?

Can its marble armor warm
The hollows chambers of your heart,
Or melt the ice
That runs through your veins?

Something will come,
A tiptoe up your driveway,
A knock on your thick door,
The brutal breath 
Of life’s lessons,

Something you could never imagine.
