Aito You're right. Back in the day, Ernie encouraged me to play the basics of funk and I found a lot of fun things for heavy metal there. Maybe I should try it again because I've learned to play a little better. +1

rootshell blues is always good, it's slower, steady key changes usually, and can practice building runs. blues is a great transition to rock :):W rock is just faster blues :) +1

rootshell and funk is great too, very percussive and tied to the drums, another great genre to play with +1

Aito I use quite a lot of blues stuff when I play. It's the easiest way to sound at least half good.
