This piece is yet another story of violent love inspired by Greek mythology. The nymph called Calypso is in love with Odysseus. At first, he lets her have her way for months (=harp at the beginning), but he thinks of his son and Penelope. He wants to set sail again, but Calypso wants to keep him. She promises him immortality.
