Thanks Didier
Ha-ha, I didn't expect this thread to promote Latin philosophy!
I was expecting Loopers to promote themselves
Well, as they say, it's "Different strokes for different folks"

I was expecting Loopers to promote themselves

as everyone knows, egocentrism is the effect of an Ego that overvalues itself...

OK, I concede that it's not in the 'dramatis personae' of wikiloopers to promote themselves (even in a fun way) So obviously you are all demure introverts
However I have noticed many # links to new uploads in the Shoutbox so perhaps that's a better way to do it. Thanks for putting up with my rambling.... I will now quietly move aside

Note to all members: Currently you get to choose only one, either coffee or the other thing Nick mentioned. Note to self: sit down with Dick at the Wikiloops meeting and discuss membership upgrade that includes both.

Man, that one is a difficult one, I was never good at these type of questions. I am not able to define myself.
All I can say I came here just looking for some backing tracks, and not only did I get these, but I also made real life friends, so even though I am not uploading a lot anymore I am a dedicated Looper

Maybe Shamika's underlying question is "why post tracks on WKLP if it doesn't lead anywhere in terms of fame?".
Let's admit that most tracks are likely to be forgotten faster than it took to produce something worthwhile.
But I ask myself the question "Why are you playing on WKLP, man?".
I answer "to play when I want, with whom I want, what I want, for the sheer joy of playing."

i'm still waiting for my quote to be added to the bottom of the wikiloops pages:
"wikiloops opened up a whole new world of international groupies for me"
-rootshell from the United States

on a serious note, how and when did those quotes get implemented? dick, inquiring minds want to know

I do have a massive ego musically but like to think I’m a very generous and empathic in real life. I’m the guy who suddenly buys his coworkers pizza or donuts for no reason .
On the loops I do pay attention to listens and have had so huge an ego at a peak, I changed my name and started over from scratch after having some tracks with 4000-7000 listens to see if I could repeat it all .
The ego is what drives me to create stuff that inspires others. It’s not to make myself a guitar god or anything like that. Anyone who performs needs an ego. It comes from my youth when I played biker and really crime ridden blues bars where if they don’t like the music you get a beer bottle chucked at your head. Best music school there is . You learn quickly about connecting with hostile audiences . I have a lot of tracks I’m really proud of and do think I have some that are every bit as good as stuff out mainstream today . But even better if I get a really great inspired add and it becomes a group team effort , my ego totally allows for the others whom are inspired to shine. Ego is not always a bad thing . It drives creativity
