Some remixes are so good they deserve recognition and exposure!
This is just my subjective choice but I will be featuring adds that complete or enhance what's gone before. I will try to pick a range of instruments, genres and styles to give variety to the Awards list.
* If any member wants to add to the list here they must give a good reason - at least 20 words :)

Here's an example of what I have in mind for the Awards thread.
"I admire the vocal approach to this remix. I tried an add myself but gave up because it was such a busy backing mix but Josh found all the right places to add balance. I like the screamo parts at the end that illustrates a need to express"

We are lucky to have some excellent accomplished Sax players at wikiloops not least of which is Wade from New Zealand. The template used has many remixes and it seems unfair to pick one out but I got so much pleasure from this mouth-watering Jazz add I'm giving Wade a Shammy Award

Also in gratitude for his lovely compliments so often given :)

Today's add getting a "SHAMMY" is from Bradford
* Your add really elevates the mix Brad, we never know quite what your instrument will sound like so it was a nice surprise when you introduced a 'trumpet' sound which you played with such confidence. You also left space for MicGuitare to add more guitar. I'm awarding you a "SHAMMY"

Today I'm choosing a drum add.
"Lenny, what a great compliment to rootshell's template which seemed finished until you came onto the scene with your carefully arranged drumming that really re-directed the listeners ear. So many original little patterns that pick up on the progression of the melody following the temperature, suspension and pauses perfectly" - you get a SHAMMY Award :W
[wl]311418[/wl]
* I also liked Ernie's bass add but the drumming stood out for me this time :)

Going with another less used instrument at the Loops today from French musician titi. It's registered as a "Harp" but I would know it as a harmonica :)
"I missed this in December but it's such a gem. Surprising that these two instruments could sit together so harmoniously - the harp is such an expressive 'voice' putting the story to FrankieJ's guitar template. I have listened to many of the remixes on this song (all good) but Thierry's gave me the best 'tingle' emotionally. Worth a SHAMMY"
[wl]306806[/wl] * Special note : titi tells me "the harmonica and guitar are best friends in the world" now I believe that :)
Out of interest I wondered how this instrument was classified, wikipedia says :-
"The harmonica, also known as a French harp or mouth organ, is a free reed wind instrument used worldwide in many musical genres, notably in blues, American folk music, classical music, jazz, country, and rock" Wow, so versatile!

I wanted to feature a bass add today so the first place to look would be Ernie, who adds, in his own words, kaboom, often where you didn't even realise it was needed :)
"I'm not sure what "kaboom" is but I imagine you got plenty of it Ernie. You have a really good ear that comes from years of listening to Rock. Your adds are always different because you pick up the material of a mix, push your needle in and thread it though with a variety of bass 'stitches' to hold it all together. You get today's SHAMMY!"

Today, something you might not expect. I've decided to award a SHAMMY to a different type of musician, a 'mixer/sequencer'
Many wikiloopers start mixes with sequenced templates and they're all good even without adds. But Gees 17 turned it around and began with a template from 2019 that had been added to many, many times already. There were vocalists, instrumentalists, even drums and percussion adds, but basically the original idea remained at the heart.
Then along came a remix that moved it into much more of a commercial hit. I'm not suggesting vocal samples or AI would be a wikiloops thing but why not demonstrate how to blow the template out of the water with some imaginative mixing fun for a change!
"After listening to this remix I went back to the original template, a slow and romantic mix. Gees17 has created a different animal altogether. The title was perhaps a clue :) That dreamy piano/cello ballad had morphed into a fast paced hot Pop song with clever mixing and samples. Time to award a sequencer/mixer with a SHAMMY I think."

Today I rather enjoyed the guitar add from a Brazilian member
"This is a great guitar add to a simple drum backing. There is lots of melody, and rhythm that mirrors the template You show mastery of the strings used in the construction of a very catchy remix. I'd like to award you with a SHAMMY today"
[wl]311933[/wl]
I notice another add from Fabricio with the same title so I'll have to check that out :)

Nick (rootshell) usually starts mixes but this time he finished one too with a great vocal add and that is the criteria for winning a SHAMMY Award. I didn't think I'd find what I wanted today then this popped up!
"What a great idea, dreamed up a likely scenario and made it happen virtually. I wondered where you'd been lately and now I know. I've been waiting for a chance to dish out a SHAMMY to The Roots and you gave me what I wanted with this dynamic Road song, thanks" <3

I usually listen to lots of new remixes before deciding on the Daily SHAMMY but this one was near the top and I couldn't resist showing it here. I know we already had a Bass award given out but there are so many wikiloops bass players I expect I will find others to feature - bass is a very important part of a complete song. Shaun hasn't had too many uploads but I hope this is the sign of goodies to come. The Solo section is particularly note-worthy <3
"Superb bass playing, real speedy but accurate and showing a little character of it's own. This is stand out stuff, loved it..."

I think it's time I handed out another SHAMMY and I 'm choosing FrankieJ for his guitar add which elevates the mix and actually pulls it back to normality while still allowing the hypnotic ritual dance to carry on.

Just stumbled upon this thread
Does it mean it is an official feature of Wikiloops?

No sorry SupJax... it's just an official Shamika feature :) I like giving incentives to wikiloopers and if you get a SHAMMY you may get more plays - that's all. I've decided not to keep this thread going now because I want to give too many awards, so many good uploads... so I'm just telling people when I think they deserve recognition. <3
