A tale, of broken hearts now,
Hopin' it don't happen to you.

He was, a lonesome drifter,
A guitar man with sand in his shoes.
She was, her daddy's pride now,
A small town girl with nothin' left to lose.

He rode on into town, and took his guitar down,
Strummin' out the chords to some old tune.
The folks they gathered round, to listen to his sound,
The boys they tapped, the girls he made them swoon.

She saw, the crowd a gather.
And stole away so she could catch a peek.
Her heart, it went a flitter,
When that guitar man, he made her knees go weak.

They say, he stole her heart now,
There's no dang thing that she could ever do.
His eyes, they tantalized her,
In her soul, he saw right on through.

He asked if she would please, with a chuckle and a tease,
Meet him later on, a rendezvous.
She tried to turn him down, the words could not be found,
That guitar man would break her heart in two.

He had, her in a stable,
Layin' down upon a bed of hay.
She tried, but she weren't able,
To resist his charms and turn to walk away.

At dawn, the sun came shinin',
That guitar man was nowhere to be found.
Her heart, it was unwindin',
A broken heart it makes a mournful sound.

He rode to the next town, and he took his guitar down,
