Waking Nightmares

I never think too far ahead
that's too confusing for my head
I'd sooner find a cosy bed to sleep in
This World is weird enough for sure
with all that fire at it's core
The rich get richer while the poor are weeping
Too many guns, too many knives
Too many wars, too many lives are wasted
Too many drugs and too much booze
Too many bugs, and all those losers, traced dead
Sometimes I want to take a pill
To calm me down and make me still
But I'd keep taking them until I faded
Into a state of comatose
Where nothing dies but nothing grows
With beaded sandals on my toes, hair braided
Oh what a crazy World we live in
Commit a sin and you will be forgiven
Oh what a crazy place to be
Where the loudest voice gets what they want
And tyrants get indemnity
You could wake up in Hell
With a noxious smell
If you don't live well
That's what they tell you
Sometimes I want to take a sip
Of something toxic on my lip
But all I'd want is just a trip to Zion
Don't think I'd like to slowly die
My fantasies don't ever fly
I could be quickly eaten by a lion
So this is all I got for you
Think what you think, do what you do
And to your own self just be true.
You might not set the World alight
It seems you can't do nothing right
So why have nightmares every night?
