Taking Five

You see,
The Clock’s been ticking, but I’ve been missing,
Stuck in the grind with a vibe that’s distant.
Life on repeat, no time to breathe,
Chase, chase, chase, no chance to grieve.
I ain’t quitting, nah, don’t get it twisted.
Just taking five from the world that I exist in,
Phone on mute, soul on loud,
Trying to speak my truth out to a headless crowd.
Too many calls that I let ring out,
Too many thoughts that I don’t talk about.
So I slide from the frame, no clenched-up fist
Just me, I breath, in a space that fits.

Eyes wide open but the room feels fake,
Same cold script that they all just take.
Smiles feel heavy, laughs too clean,
It’s all too polished, and I just slip between.
Walk that line where the light gets thin,
Pulse on edge, breath locked in.
Did my part, I\'m off the ride,
No mask, no noise, just time outside.
Dropped that weight like a glove on the floor,
Took one step, well I didn’t ask for any more.
Still in the fight, still got my pride
I move on my own now though \'cause I\'m taking five.

World still turning, but I’m off the grid,
Didn’t vanish, I just closed the lid,
Left that noise on read for now,
Let my head come back, I forgot how.
Feet in the dirt, hands in the breeze,
No deadlines chasing, I\'ve got no one to please.
No fake “you good?” or polite disguise,
Just truth in the air and some sleep that\'s in my eyes.
Sometimes peace don’t come with a win,
Sometimes growth just means shedding your skin,
This ain’t weak, it’s how I survive,
Call it what you want,
I’m taking five.

Soon I’ll return, no cape, no crown,
But real this time, with myfeet on the ground.
Not stretched too thin, not burnt or wired,
I\'m sharper now, a little less tired.
See I stepped out, not to run or hide,
But to walk my own for a breath of pride,
I ain’t lost, just realigned,
Cleared my head, reclaimed my mind,
Still got goals, still got drive,
Still that spark, still alive.
But I don’t move blind though, just to stay in stride
I stop when I need.
I take my five.
