Too Many Tabs

Got forty-two tabs in the back of my skull
One playing jazz, one predicting the fall of us all
Googling stars, I’m scrolling through mars
Trying to remember where I parked my car
One says relax, take it slow
One says, bro you should’ve started six years ago
One’s writing poems on the back of a receipt
Wondering if the stars are looking back at me
Coffee gone cold but my screen still bright
Three in the morning and I’m stuck up in the light
One little thought then it multiplies fast
Ten steps deep into a question I asked

Too many tabs, too many thoughts in the stack
Too many, what if? Voices talking back
Click click click, now the silence is cracked
Every damn thought trying to hijack
Too many tabs, too many ghosts in the code
Too many roads that I never rode
If I close one down then another one loads
Every damn thought trying to overload

Thoughts bounce walls like a pinball machine
Half philosophy, half caffeine
One minute I’m thinking about time and decay
Next minute what if the clouds float away?
If gravity blinked would we all just drift?
Would fish fall from the sky like a cosmic gift?
Would the birds be mad that we stole their route?
That’s the kind of things my brain runs through
Try sleep, nah the night shift begins
Ideas kick doors with imaginary friends
Got a beat in my chest and a thought coming through
Then another one pops up, it's tab 2
