mpointon I do need new brushes. The right-hand one kept getting tangled! Cannot work out why because it didn't matter which brush was in it! +1

OliVBee did you ever try the kind you can tuck in the handle ? the brush can get somewhat harder and kinda firm if you tuck it in just the right amount ... +1

mpointon Yes, that's the sort I'm using. But I usually use them at full extent as I like the 'floppiness' of the sound for this sort of thing. But the wires are getting old and bend easily. They're about 20 years old! +1
